Boreman – Hydraulic Calculator

The Boreman Hydraulic Calculator is a tool to assist the engineer designing a water well system using Boreman flexible rising main, providing the hydraulic parameters for a specific project. It is essential to understand that the data provided relates exclusively to the performance of Boreman. The calculated results will not apply to any other manufacturer’s riser with consequent potential for failure in operation.

How to use the calculator

The designed diametric swell of Boreman flexible rising main often permits the use of a smaller diameter riser than a rigid pipe and the Calculator is a tool to assist in the selection of the most appropriate Riser Diameter for a specific project.

A typical well riser set-up is shown below.

Inserting the given parameters at Inputs, the Calculator will display the Results. The Hose Unit Weight is set automatically when the Riser Diameter is selected.

Note:  The Maximum Tension Load for a given Riser Diameter includes weight of water column at Pump setting depth, Riser, Pump, Cables and End couplings. The actual Tension Load can hence vary as the Dynamic Water level varies. If the Maximum Tension Load exceeds 100%, it will change from green to red and the selected Riser Diameter should be increased.

The applied Pump Operating Head should not exceed the designed Maximum Operating Pressure stated in the Boreman Data Sheet.
